We strongly encourage our members to also be members of
the Association of Avian Veterinarians, the Association of Reptile and Amphibian Veterinarians, and the Association of Exotic
Mammal Veterinarians. In addition, members may also belong to the American Association of Zoo Veterinarians, American Association
of Laboratory Animal Science, Association of Wildlife Veterinarians. Members attend one or more of the following conferences
on a regular basis and share information from these conferences:AAV, ARAV, AAZV, AEMV, ABVP Symposium and others.
Members are encouraged to strive for Board certification such as the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners
- Avian Practice. 6 members currently hold this certification. In 2009, ABVP held its first examination for Board Certification
in Exotic Companion Mammals. 1 member currently holds this certification.
